We offer different types of accommodation: standard rooms, two-story Maisonette Suites, doubles, triples, family rooms, interconnecting rooms, and corner rooms. All of them are equipped with wi-fi and a bathroom. Due to the fact that New Helvetia is a historic building we are not allowed to equip it with air-conditioning. However, the natural construction materials of the hotel keep the rooms cool in summer and warm during winter days. The hotel is centrally heated throughout.

Pine Tree Bar
A 250-year-old pine tree growing through the roof is the centrepiece of the Pine Tree Bar, which also features an old brick fireplace. Chilling out by the bar or on a cosy sofa by the fire you will enjoy a glass of wine from the family's collection.
The walls of the living room are covered with vintage photos and paintings. The bar itself has been renovated in 1984 when we had to construct a roof in a way that would preserve the pine tree. Now it is a nice place to feel the atmosphere and spirit of the hotel. Saturdays aways

The first mountain hotel ever built in Cyprus, located in Troodos, “The Green Heart of the island”, the hotel is surrounded by the century-old Aleppo pines, waterfall streams, and picturesque hiking routes. Only 700m away from the Platres center with all its restaurants, cafes and sites.

Nicolas Kypriotis founded the New Helvetia Hotel in Platres in 1929. His daughter Erasmia with her husband George Ioannides took it over in 1947. Today the hotel is run by the third generation, Mrs Lito Mattheou, and her two sons George and Nicos Mattheou who belongs to the fourth generation. The fifth-generation is getting ready to take over the Hotel.
The hotel's building has been listed as the EU cultural heritage and has been renovated due to the regulations of historical buildings. In September 2021 the hotel has been approved by the government of the Republic of Cyprus as a listed hotel. Our premises include 25 Elegant Rooms, 8 Maisonettes Suites, and 6 Self-Catering Studios, each with a beautiful view over the Pine Forest of Platres or towards the picturesque courtyards, offering a comfortable home to guests from all over the world.
